2026 polls : Nandala launches presidential campaigns in Buikwe today

BUIKWE .Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi will this Monday kick off a series of campaign rallies in Buikwe District, unveiling an ambitious schedule as the country heads into a heated race ahead of the 2026 presidential election.


Mafabi, who has anchored his message on “Fixing the economy, putting money in our pockets”, will campaign in Nkokonjeru at 9 a.m., before making stopovers in Najja, Ajiija, Buikwe Town Council, Najjembe, Nyenga and Mbiko.
He will also address mini rallies in Kiyindi and Lugazi Municipality. His programme will close with a main rally in Njeru at 5 p.m.

The FDC secretary general has emerged as a prominent challenger, promising to tackle high living costs, revive Uganda’s manufacturing base and strengthen public accountability.
Buikwe, an industrial and agricultural hub on the Lake Victoria shoreline, is seen as a critical battleground for presidential contenders, combining urban municipalities such as Lugazi with rural fishing and farming communities.

Incumbent President Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986, and other seven candidates including National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, are expected to traverse the country as official campaigns today
