21 candidates nominated to contest for local council  seats in Masaka District

MASAKA.

Atleast 21 candidates   have been nominated by Masaka DistrictElectoral Commission as the nomination for local council leaders on Day Two .Among thosenominated is National Unity Platform’s District(NUP)  Chairperson flag bearer Francis Kimuli.Kimuli whohas been serving as the speaker for Masaka District Council is the only personthat has picked nomination forms for the LC5 seat.

Othersnominated are councillors that will be representing several electoral areas inthe sub counties of Kyanamukaka, Kyesiga and Bukakkata.Kimuli haspromised to use his experience in local government politics to develop thedistrict where he has served as the district speaker for the last five years.Kimuli sayshe is going to ensure that the electorate experience change in servicedelivery.

“I amgoing to use my experience in local government to serve my district ,I willensure that areas that have challenge of clean safe water can get connected tothe NWSC water grid and protect environment and have improved service deliveryespecially in education”.

He added He hashowever asked those that did not get NUP party tickets to support those thatthe party vetted as the NUP flag bearers.Thosenominated to contest as councillors include Nalule Sarah of NUP, Mukisa  Benjamin independent and Nakanjako SandraKizza also independent for directly elected woman councillor, for Kyanamukakaamong others.Nakanjako howeverasked   the EC to sensitize candidates onfilling forms and payment process to have the nomination exercise simplified.

KwalikundaMarble , the Masaka District Electoral Commission registrar however raisedconcern over the quality of  pictures thepeople that have expressed interest to contest presented asking them to ensurethat they get good quality pictures to avoid inconveniences.
