RUBIS Energy Unveils Castrol Power 1 in Uganda to Power the Nation’s Motorcycle Movement

RUBiS Energy Uganda has officially launched Castrol Power 1, a new motorcycle engine oil designed to meet the rigorous demands of Uganda’s fast-growing boda-boda transport sector.

The product was unveiled at the company’s Makindye service station in Kampala under the campaign theme “Ekijja Kijje”, a Luganda phrase meaning “it has arrived.” The launch brought together hundreds of boda-boda riders, mechanics, and industry players in a celebration of what the company described as a breakthrough in performance and engine protection for motorcycles operating in Uganda’s challenging conditions.

Speaking at the event, William Fillet, Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Uganda, said the new product reflects the company’s recognition of the critical role motorcycles play in Uganda’s economy.

“Every minute a rider spends off the road is lost income,” he noted. “Castrol Power 1 is formulated to keep engines cleaner, more responsive and more durable helping riders protect both their machines and their livelihoods.”

The oil’s advanced formulation is tailored for high-temperature engines and stop-and-go traffic typical of urban centers like Kampala, promising improved acceleration, smoother rides, and longer service intervals.

Olivia Nahwera, the company’s Fuels and Specialities Manager, said the campaign aims to build trust among mechanics and riders by emphasizing quality and reliability.

“We are encouraging riders to choose the oil that protects their dreams,” she explained. “By using Castrol Power 1, they spend less on maintenance and more time earning.”

The launch also featured demonstrations by expert mechanics showcasing the oil’s protective capabilities and efficiency in reducing engine wear. Riders were given samples and urged to compare its performance with conventional oils.

Industry observers say the introduction of Castrol Power 1 marks a strategic step in deepening RUBiS Energy’s footprint in Uganda’s lubricant market, especially within the two-wheeler segment that supports thousands of livelihoods. Uganda’s motorcycle population continues to rise, with boda-bodas now serving as a lifeline for urban mobility and small-scale logistics.

With the introduction of Castrol Power 1, RUBiS Energy Uganda seeks to empower riders to not only maintain better-performing motorcycles but also to secure more reliable livelihoods on the nation’s roads.
