Absa Bank Sends Off Aga Khan High School Innovators for Continental JA Africa Finals

Absa Bank Uganda has officially flagged off a team of young innovators from Aga Khan High School to represent the country at the Junior Achievement (JA) Africa Company of the Year finals scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria.

The students earned their spot at the continental competition after emerging national champions in Uganda, winning with an eco friendly innovation that turns discarded plastic into strong, reusable construction blocks. Their project which impressed judges for its creativity and climate focused approach, will now compete against top student enterprises from across Africa.

During the send off ceremony, Absa Bank commended the learners for demonstrating talent, discipline and a strong entrepreneurial mindset. The bank said its support is part of a long standing commitment to empower young people with financial literacy, business skills and opportunities to innovate solutions to real community challenges.

Junior Achievement Uganda praised Absa’s continued partnership, noting that exposure to regional competitions helps shape the next generation of business leaders, environmental champions and problem solvers. The organisation said the students’ innovation reflects the kind of forward-thinking needed to address climate pressures on the continent.

The team from Aga Khan High School expressed readiness and confidence saying they hope to bring home the continental trophy while showcasing Uganda’s growing talent in youth innovation.
