Mufti attends 54th UAE National Day

KAMPALA. His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Waiswa, Deputy Mufti, represented His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan, the Mufti of Uganda—currently left for official duties in the Kingdom of Morocco—at the 54th National Day celebrations of the United Arab Emirates, held on the evening of December 2, 2025, at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Sheikh Waiswa was accompanied by Dr. Sheikh Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga, the UMSC Director of Sharia.

Prior to the cocktail party, where guests were served an assortment of soft drinks and refreshments, speeches were delivered by key dignitaries. These included H.E. Abdallah Hassan Al Shamisi, UAE Ambassador to Uganda, and Hon. Justine Lumumba Kasule, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, representing the Government of Uganda.

In his remarks, Ambassador Abdallah praised the UAE’s rapid development over the last 54 years and lauded the constructive cooperation based on mutual respect and collaboration between Uganda and the UAE. “It is noteworthy that 98 percent of Ugandan exports to Gulf countries go to the UAE,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Hon. Justine Lumumba Kasule echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the warm cooperation between the two countries. She highlighted various areas of development, including exports, investment opportunities, tourism, technology exchange, and the UAE serving as a second home for over forty thousand Ugandans.

The event was attended by ministers, diplomats, and other high-profile personalities.
