The Kanyanya -Kawempe chief Magistrates has for the third time denied to release on bail the ten jailed NUP supporters re-echoing concerns that the group may interfere with would be state witnesses and on-going investigations.
For that matter the group consisting of NUP spokes person Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro , Edward Sebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe , Achileo Kivumbi, Saudha Madada and others will spend this festive season at Luzira prison and will return to court on 7th/ January 2026.
The ten stands charged with offenses relating to millitary drilling , posession of millitary -like attires and establishing a school without a valid license.
Prosecution states that the charges stem from a millitary parade presented as a birthday gift to NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu held on 23rd February 2025 at the party’s hqs in Kavule- Kampala.
