MBALE. UBA Uganda, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the UBA Foundation, has supported students at Mbale Comprehensive High School.
The UBA Uganda team, led by Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Hoziana Niyonsaba Ssemanda, alongside Head of Institutional Banking Charity Ngabirano and Mbale Branch Manager Ivan Mwima, visited the school to support students with both educational and personal development resources.
During the visit, the Foundation distributed literature books to more than 600 students, aimed at promoting a strong reading culture among learners in the Mbale region.
In celebration of Women’s Month, the team also provided sanitary wear to over 300 girls, ensuring that young girls can continue their education with dignity and confidence.

The initiative went beyond donations, as the team conducted a counseling and mentorship session, sharing encouraging and relatable life stories to inspire students to remain focused on their education and to stay in school despite challenges.
The UBA team was warmly welcomed by the Head Teacher, Mr. John Francis Mabonga who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gesture, commending UBA for its love, support, and commitment to the wellbeing of all students.
Speaking during the visit, Ms Ssemanda emphasized that the outreach was driven by UBA’s dedication to empowering young people through education and holistic support.

“Our goal is to inspire and equip these young minds with the tools they need to succeed, while also addressing challenges that may hinder their education, especially for the girl child,” she noted.
Addressing the students, Charity Ngabirano encouraged them to value the opportunity of education, remain disciplined, and show appreciation to their teachers and guardians.
“Education is a gift that shapes your future. Stay committed, respect those who guide you, and remain focused on your dreams,” she advised.
The outreach initiative was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from both students and school staff, highlighting the positive impact of such engagements.
This visit reaffirmed UBA Foundation’s unwavering commitment to the wellbeing, empowerment, and future success of young people across Uganda and the African continent.
