The Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago, today hosted a delegation of Ugandan football legends led by their club chairman, Paul Ssali.

During the meeting, the former players shared memories of Uganda’s football glory days, reflecting on the achievements of past teams and personalities who shaped the sport.

Lukwago expressed concern over the current welfare of the legends, noting that more support is needed to improve their living conditions. He also challenged football administrators to preserve the history of clubs and recognize former players by honoring them at national stadiums.

The delegation, which included learners, teachers, and proprietors from Caring Hearts Primary and Secondary Schools, presented the Lord Mayor with a special gift and a selection of fruits in appreciation of his service to the city.

In response, Lukwago thanked the legends and the school community for the gesture and pledged to strengthen the relationship going forward.
