Supreme Court Honours Retired Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo for 17 Years of Transformative Service

The Supreme court has convened a special sitting to honour the retired chief justice Alfonse Chicagamoy Owiny-Dollo for his 17 year distinguished service to the judiciary .

The session is being chaired by the current chief justice Dr. Flavian Zeija
where selected speakers have commemorated justice Dollo’s tenure of service as that was marked by exceptional achievement and developments characterized by;

Significant expansion of the Judiciary and recruitment of staff,
Robust growth in the use of ICT
Increased reliance on Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms, and
General transformation of the Judiciary’s administrative policies and practices.

His former colleagues at the Supreme Court bench have spoken of him as a good listener who believes in seeking the views of others first , honours his predecessors and maitained an open day policy allowing accessibility to both the mighty and the humble .

Other speakers praised justice Dollo as a confident leader who championed initiatives for timely justice delivery and acquisition of permanet court structures.
