KAMPALA – The Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Nyombi Thembo, has boosted preparations for the upcoming General Muhoozi birthday run with a contribution of kits worth Shs 20 million, in support of a cause aimed at helping vulnerable communities across the country.
The birthday run, organized in honor of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is expected to mobilize Ugandans from all walks of life to participate in a charitable initiative whose proceeds will be directed towards supporting the needy.
During a brief handover ceremony, the Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), David Kabanda, received the contribution on behalf of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. He later officially handed over the kits to Nyombi Thembo as part of the symbolic endorsement of the initiative.
Kabanda commended Nyombi Thembo for the generous contribution, noting that the support from UCC demonstrates a strong commitment to social responsibility and national solidarity.
“This contribution is a clear indication of the willingness by institutions to stand with initiatives that aim at improving the lives of the less privileged in our communities,” Kabanda said.
He called upon other government agencies, private sector players, and well-wishers to emulate UCC’s gesture by supporting the run, emphasizing that collective efforts would ensure the success of the initiative and maximize its impact.
The General Muhoozi birthday run has in recent years grown into a significant event on Uganda’s social calendar, attracting participants who not only celebrate the General’s birthday but also contribute to meaningful causes that uplift communities in need.
Organizers say this year’s edition will focus on expanding outreach to underserved groups across the country, reinforcing the spirit of giving and unity among Ugandans.
