Margaret Karume appointed second executive director of Dfcu

KAMPALA. Dfcu Bank has appointed Margaret Karume as its second executive director.

The move has seen the expansion of the bank’s top leadership team.

Karume joins the role with more than 30 years of banking experience across East Africa, having worked in senior positions in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Before the appointment, she served as dfcu Bank’s Chief Credit Officer, overseeing the bank’s credit function and credit portfolio management. She also headed the Customer Experience Unit and was involved in the bank’s credit automation initiatives.

Prior to joining dfcu, Karume was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NCBA Bank Tanzania, where she oversaw the merger that formed NCBA Bank Tanzania. She previously served as Managing Director and CEO of NIC Bank Tanzania and held senior roles in credit risk and corporate banking in the region.

The bank said the appointment is part of efforts to strengthen its leadership structure as it pursues growth and operational improvements.

Karume has also been involved in mentorship and talent development programmes targeting young professionals in the banking sector.

dfcu Bank is one of Uganda’s commercial banks, offering financial services to individuals, businesses and institutions across the country.
