NAKASERO. Criminal Investigations Department (CID)-led operatives attached to the Uganda Police have continued to tow luxury vehicles seized from properties linked to outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, as investigations into alleged illicit enrichment, corruption, and money laundering intensify.
Among the vehicles impounded on Wednesday is a Toyota Land Cruiser (UBH 138W) which was loaded onto a Police flatbed recovery truck from her push residence in upscale Nakasero suburb of Kampala.
Another Land Cruiser (UA 630BE) was also seized and similarly transported.
A third vehicle, a Mercedes-Maybach with personalized number plate AAA1 , was impounded at the same residence, while a fourth vehicle, a Lexus (UBP 704Y), was also taken.
The latest seizures follow earlier recoveries on Monday, when a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover were impounded from a separate residence in Mutungo-Kigo the shores of Lake Victoria, bringing increased public attention to the scale of the operation.
Police have consistently used flatbed recovery trucks to transport the vehicles rather than driving them away, a procedure law enforcement officials say is guided by standard investigative protocol.
Police have not made any formal findings of guilt, and the seized vehicles remain subject to ongoing investigations.
