BoU break-in : Six laptops recovered, four suspects arrested


KAMPALA.Police in Kampala have recovered all six laptop computers stolen from the Bank of Uganda and arrested four suspects in connection with the robbery.
The laptops were taken on the night of May 3, 2026, from the central bank’s offices along Kampala Road, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire.
After arresting two suspects and recovering two laptops earlier, investigators kept up the search.
“The additional arrests also led to the recovery of four more laptop computers. All six stolen laptops have now been recovered and are being held as exhibits,” Owoyesigyire said.
The four suspects have been identified as Kule Boaz Michael, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo, and Oedo Jorem Jude.
“We would like to inform members of the media that Central Police Station Kampala (CPS) will today arraign four suspects before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the theft of six laptop computers belonging to Bank of Uganda,” Owoyesigyire said.
He confirmed the break-in happened on the night of May 3 at the Bank of Uganda offices on Kampala Road, and said all the stolen laptops have since been recovered.
The suspects are expected to face charges of office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and retaining stolen property when they appear before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court today, May 20, 2026.
Police said investigations are still ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment to bringing everyone involved to justice.
