Makerere University Management, School of Law Discuss Research and Graduate Training Enhancement

KAMPALA – The leadership of Makerere University has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening research and graduate training through closer collaboration with academic units across the institution.

Speaking after a meeting held on Tuesday morning, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe said members of the University’s Central Management engaged in a productive discussion with the leadership and staff of the Makerere University School of Law.

According to Prof. Nawangwe, the meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance research output and graduate training at the School of Law and across the wider university community.

“This morning the members of the Makerere University Central Management held a very cordial and engaged discussion with the leadership and staff of Makerere Law. We exchanged ideas on ways to improve research and graduate training at the School and the entire University,” Prof. Nawangwe said.

The Vice Chancellor commended the School of Law for its contribution to the university’s academic excellence, thanking its leadership and staff for their exemplary service.

“Thank you School of Law for your exemplary service to our great university,” he added.

The engagement is part of ongoing efforts by Makerere University to strengthen academic programs, promote high-quality research, and enhance postgraduate education in line with the institution’s strategic goals.

The School of Law remains one of Makerere University’s leading academic units, producing legal professionals, researchers, and policymakers who contribute significantly to Uganda’s justice sector and national development.

University officials expressed optimism that the discussions would further strengthen collaboration between the central administration and academic units, ultimately improving the quality of teaching, research, and innovation at Uganda’s premier institution of higher learning.
