The Government of Uganda, through its Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark, has launched a major tourism promotion campaign aimed at attracting more visitors from the Nordic region to experience Uganda’s diverse tourism attractions.

Dubbed “Explore Uganda,” the outdoor advertising campaign was officially launched across key public transport routes in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, as part of efforts to position Uganda as a leading tourism destination for Nordic travellers.

According to the Embassy, the campaign was launched by Uganda’s Ambassador to Denmark, Margaret M. Otesskov, and seeks to increase awareness of Uganda among travellers with interests in nature, adventure, wildlife, and cultural tourism.

The campaign prominently features some of Uganda’s most iconic attractions, including the endangered mountain gorillas, the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, the famous tree-climbing lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park, vibrant cultural heritage, and the country’s unique culinary experiences.

Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Uganda’s tourism profile in international markets and attract a larger share of visitors from Denmark and neighbouring Nordic countries.

The launch comes at a time when Uganda’s tourism sector continues to record strong growth. International arrivals through Entebbe International Airport have been steadily increasing, underscoring Uganda’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for leisure travel, business tourism, and international conferences.

The Embassy noted that the campaign will enhance Uganda’s visibility across the Nordic region and encourage more travellers to discover the country’s rich natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and warm hospitality.

Tourism remains one of Uganda’s key economic sectors, contributing significantly to employment, foreign exchange earnings, and national development. Government officials are optimistic that targeted marketing campaigns such as “Explore Uganda” will further boost visitor numbers and strengthen the country’s position as the “Pearl of Africa.”

The Nordic region, known for its strong interest in sustainable and nature-based tourism, presents a strategic market for Uganda as it seeks to diversify its tourism source markets and attract high-value travellers.

The “Explore Uganda” campaign is expected to run across various outdoor advertising platforms in Copenhagen, showcasing Uganda’s unique attractions to thousands of commuters and visitors daily.
