Lord Mayor Balimwezo Unveils Citywide Support Programme for Vulnerable Families

KAMPALA – The Lord Mayor of Kampala, Eng. Balimwezo Ronald, has launched a new initiative aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable families across the city through the provision of shelter and essential household support.

The programme was unveiled during a meeting attended by Hon. Dr. Nalukwago Edith, Minister of Health and Social Services, Hon. Nambassa Shamim, Minister of Finance, and councillors from Kawempe and Lubaga divisions.

During the engagement, leaders discussed strategies for implementing the project, which is designed to support disadvantaged families by providing decent shelter and basic household necessities. The initiative is expected to benefit residents in all five divisions of Kampala.

Eng. Balimwezo emphasized the importance of collaboration between city leaders and councillors to ensure the programme reaches the intended beneficiaries. He called upon all leaders to remain committed to serving communities with accountability, transparency, and compassion.

The Lord Mayor noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the quality of life for vulnerable residents and strengthen social support systems within the city.

Speaking on behalf of local leaders, Mayor Sserujongi Emmanuel and Zanchy Mberaze Mawula commended the Lord Mayor for spearheading the programme and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting its implementation. They expressed confidence that the initiative would make a meaningful difference in the lives of many families facing social and economic challenges.

The programme is expected to roll out across Kampala’s five divisions, bringing much-needed support to vulnerable households and contributing to improved living standards for city residents.
