Kampala Metropolitan Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred. on the ground floor of BMK Plaza in Kampala.
Preliminary findings indicate that a confrontation erupted between a security guard and a male hawker on 10th July 2026 at around 4:30 p.m after the latter was ordered to leave the building. The altercation turned violent, and the security guard allegedly stabbed the hawker in the chest.
The victim collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as Ian Mugisha, a security guard attached to Security 2000, was arrested immediately.
Police recovered the suspected murder weapon, while the body of the deceased—whose identity is yet to be established—was taken to the KCCA City Mortuary Mulago,for post-mortem examination.
Kampala Metropolitan Police say investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, with further updates to be issued as inquiries progress, according to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer, Kampala Metropolitan Police.
