Vivo Energy Uganda marked a significant milestone on Thursday, April 3, 2025, with the successful conclusion of its third annual Shell Select Suppliers Conference. The event brought together key partners from the Shell Select and Shop network to showcase the company’s impressive growth since the COVID-19 pandemic and unveil future strategies for further expansion.
The conference emphasized several key themes, including network expansion, streamlined store designs, enhancing the customer experience, and leveraging big data to drive decision-making. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the growth and success of Shell Select suppliers, reinforcing Vivo Energy’s stronghold in Uganda’s energy and convenience retail sectors.
Chief Commercial Officer, Alinafe Mkavea, discussed the potential of ongoing expansion. “Expanding our network offers tremendous opportunities for everyone involved,” she noted. “Each new site unlocks increased business, better incomes, and a broader market reach. We are fully dedicated to ensuring that each location becomes a thriving hub for both our fuel and non-fuel retail offerings.”
Mkavea also highlighted automation as a vital aspect of improving operational efficiency. “By focusing on automation, we are optimizing stock management, simplifying transactions, and elevating our service delivery — all of which contribute to a better customer experience,” she explained.

In line with this, Vivo Energy plans to upgrade existing stores and transform dealer-owned shops into fully branded Shell Select outlets. “Standardizing store experiences across our network ensures a consistent level of quality, while maintaining our high standards in both service and products,” Mkavea added. “Additionally, we are expanding our Convenience Retail Coaches program to ensure compliance and maintain the best visual merchandising standards across all locations.”
Managing Director, Joanita Menya Mukasa, also took the opportunity to thank the company’s suppliers for their integral role in its ongoing success. “Your commitment and collaboration have been essential to the continuous growth of Shell Select,” Mukasa said. “We’ve seen steady growth year-on-year, a testament to the strong partnerships we’ve built and the collective effort to move the business forward.”
She further elaborated, “We take pride in our consistent growth and the resilience of our business. At Vivo Energy, our vision extends far beyond providing fuel; it’s about positioning Shell Select as the leading choice for convenience shopping across Uganda.”
The conference also set the stage for future strategic priorities, such as further network expansion, diversifying retail offerings, and maintaining a standardized experience across all Shell stations. Vivo Energy aims to continue fostering innovation and collaboration with suppliers to increase revenue, positioning Shell Select as Uganda’s premier convenience retail destination.
