Two kidnapped Pakistani nationals rescued in Luwero

LUWERO .Police in the Central Region district of Luwero are investigating a kidnapping case involving two Pakistani nationals who were abducted in broad daylight and later rescued in Wakiso District.


According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at around 12:53pm in Mabanda Village, Luwero Town Council.


Four unidentified men in a white Toyota Premio allegedly abducted Abaasi Ali and Rashid Ahmed, employees of a Pakistani investor operating in Luwero.


The suspects demanded a Shs20 million ransom from the investor. However, thanks to a swift police response following a tip-off, an elite team from the regional Flying Squad was deployed, and the victims were rescued in Matuga, Wakiso District.


Two suspects were arrested, while the others escaped. A case of alleged kidnapping was registered, and investigations are ongoing. Police are searching for the remaining suspects.


Mr Twiineamazima said, “Preliminary reports indicate that the suspects drove the victims to Matuga along Kasangati Road in Wakiso District and began demanding a ransom.

A case of alleged kidnap was registered, and statements were recorded from relevant witnesses. The crime scene was visited and documented by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO).”
