Isaiah Katumwa Marks 30 Years of Jazz with an All Star Concert at Serena Hotel

Get ready for an unforgettable night of soulful melodies and timeless rhythms as Uganda’s most iconic jazz saxophonist, Isaiah Katumwa, celebrates a monumental milestone of 30 years of jazz excellence with a grand Live in Concert this Sunday, 20th July 2025, at the luxurious Kampala Serena Hotel.

A master of Afro Smooth Jazz Fusion, Katumwa has not only pioneered the genre in Uganda but also inspired an entire generation of musicians.

Over the years, he has shared stages with jazz legends such as Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, Dave Koz, and Angelique Kidjo, his smooth blend of African rhythms and global jazz flair has earned him international acclaim with hits like Smile OnNsiima, and Home Away gracing platforms such as SiriusXM’s Watercolors.

This upcoming celebration will more than just a concert, it is a tribute to three decades of impact, mentorship, and musical brilliance.

“This is not just a show of saxophones,” Katumwa says. “It is a celebration of sound and legacy of the journey, the passion, and the people who have walked it with me.”

The concert will feature a powerful lineup of Uganda’s top jazz talents, including Michael Kitanda, Happy Kyazze, Mark Langa, Joseph Sax, Jonathan Kyobe, Robert Aduba, Myko Ouma, Charmant Mushaga, Naava Grey, Racheal Namubiru, Brian Mugenyi, and Tshaka Mayanja.

 A special highlight of the evening will be a guest appearance by Moses Matovu, the legendary frontman of Afrigo Band.

Together  they represent the heartbeat of Uganda’s jazz scene, many of whom have either been mentored or inspired by Katumwa himself.

This once-in-a-lifetime gathering of nine of Uganda’s most celebrated saxophonists promises to blow Kampala away with a wave of harmonies and emotion.
