Buganda Road chief Magistrates on Monday afternoon, has issued a warrant of arrest against Isaac Kimaze Ssemakadde, the president of the Uganda Law Society.
The trial chief magistrate Ronald Kayizzi issued the order after Semakadde failed to turn up in court as per summons on two different occasions to answer the charges of insulting the Director of Public prosecutions Jane Frances Abodo.
The magistrate issued the order for arrest against Ssemakadde and be produced in court before the 19th next month.
Two lawyers, Tonny Tumukunde and Joshua Byamazima, requested the arrest warrant after Ssemakadde failed to appear in court to face charges of insulting the modesty of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Justice Jane Frances Abodo.
The charges stem from derogatory comments Ssemakadde allegedly made about Justice Abodo during a symposium in November last year.
This has acome in less than two weeks time after High Court Judge, Musa Ssekaana has sentenced the same person to nine months imprisonment on charges of contempt of Court.
Last week , Police confirmed that although court had sentenced Ssemakadde, they had no arrest warrant against ULS President who is said to be in Kigali Rwanda, attending to official duties.
