Pastor Samuel Kajoba replaces Maka as new SDA Church Archbishop

KAMPALA – Pastor Samuel Kajoba is the new Uganda Union Mission (Archbishop) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda.


Kajoba ,66 was announced as Archbishop on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, during the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.


At the same meeting, 10 archbishops for 10 other African countries were elected.
The 11 countries are: Uganda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania.


Kajoba’s election follows a recent election of Pr Dr Moses Maka as executive secretary at ECD in a global church election held in St Louis in USA. ECD president, Pr Dr Blasius Ruguri, was retained.
Pastor Kajoba will serve for a period of five years (2025-2030). The Executive Secretary Pr Dr Nicholas Bitamazire, has been retained.


Elder Isaac Lyadda comes in as new Executive Treasurer, replacing Pr Frank Kiggundu, who has retired.

  • Education: Kajoba holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from Adventist University of Africa (AUA) in Nairobi and a Bachelor of Theology from Bugema University in Uganda.
  • Career: His career in ministry has included several key positions, such as:
    • President of the Central Uganda Conference (since 2016)
    • Ministerial Director for the Uganda Union (2011–2015)
    • District Pastor in Najjanankumbi and Masuliita
    • Chaplain at Light College Katikamu
