The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has launched the second phase of its Digital Education for Community Empowerment and Development in Africa (DECEDA) project, aimed at integrating digital tools into classroom learning across the country.
This kicked off From September 1 to 5, UCC brought together teachers and curriculum coordinators from 31 schools for a training program focused on digital lesson development and delivery. The initiative is designed to enhance how educators use technology in teaching core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science.
According to the Commission, the DECEDA project is part of its wider mandate to promote digital inclusion, particularly in education. It enables teachers to create curriculum-aligned digital content accessible through various ICT platforms, helping schools overcome traditional resource limitations.
This project builds on previous phases and complements UCC’s efforts to ensure equitable access to digital resources, especially in underserved regions. Participants in the recent phase received tools and training necessary for developing lessons tailored to both national standards and digital formats.
The UCC has reiterated its commitment to supporting education through innovative technology-based solutions, positioning digital literacy as a key component of Uganda’s development agenda.
