Bobi Wine ,NUP founder Kibalama meet

KAMPALA. National Unity Platform Party (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has met the party principal founder Moses Nkonge Kibalama after reports emerged months ago that the two had fallen out.

Mzee Kabalama has been bedridden for months, but his X post on Sunday , after the two meet at Bobi Wine’s residence in Magere ,Wakiso District , the latter said the former is steadily recovering .

“Very pleased to have hosted mzee Moses Nkonge Kibalama at Magere this week. Glad to see that he’s steadily recovering from the illness that has bothered him for some time,” Kyagulanyi wrote.

The opposition leader added that NUP would continue to support Kibalama’s recovery, while also alleging that the government has attempted to use him against the party and its broader political agenda.

Kibalama, who once headed the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) before it was rebranded into NUP in 2020, has been a central figure in disputes over the party’s leadership. In past years, his shifting positions have sparked debate within Uganda’s political circles.

Government officials have not yet commented on Kyagulanyi’s latest outbursts.
In June , information emerged that Kibalama’s group had returned to court accusing NUP secretary general Lewis Rubongoya and the current leadership of unlawfully controlling party assets that, according to them, rightfully belong to the original founders.

But senior party officials stood their ground ,saying NUP belongs to the people and not to any single individual or faction.

It remains to be seen whether this renewed relationship between the two leaders will grow and accusations of NUP leaders abandoning Kibalama don’t resurface again.
