Buganda Kingdom’s Premier, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, has encouraged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore investment opportunities within Buganda. The proposal was presented during a meeting with Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the UAE Minister for Economy and Tourism, held in Dubai.
A press statement released after the meeting revealed that discussions focused on the economic potential within Buganda, especially in areas that could drive revenue through strategic investments.
Minister Al Mubarak responded positively, expressing interest in creating a collaborative framework between the UAE, Buganda Kingdom, and Uganda at large. He pledged to support initiatives that could deepen economic ties and mutual development.
Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, Zaake Wannume Kibedi, was also present at the meeting. He noted that the UAE is a key trade partner for Uganda, particularly in the export of agricultural produce.
Katikkiro Mayiga was joined by fellow Buganda Kingdom ministers Joseph Kawuki, Hamis Kakomo, and Robert Sserwanga. The visit is part of his participation in the ongoing Buganda Bumu Arab-Asia Convention in the UAE.
