APA Insurance Uganda, in partnership with Hollard Health, has unveiled a new international health insurance product designed to broaden access to quality healthcare while promoting healthier lifestyles.
The package valued at up to Shs36 billion, targets a wide spectrum of clients, from individuals and families to small businesses and large corporates. According to the two firms, the plan allows users to customize benefits to match their specific health needs, giving more flexibility than traditional health policies.
A standout feature of the product is the integration of Health Move, a digital wellness application that enables members to monitor vital indicators such as heart rate, stress levels, and body mass index. The app also provides lifestyle coaching, goal setting, and rewards for positive health behaviour. Users further benefit from telemedicine services and access to second medical opinions, creating a blend of preventive care and treatment support.
Speaking at the launch yesterday, executives from APA Insurance highlighted that the partnership with Hollard Health is meant to address the rising cost of healthcare in Uganda by encouraging preventive practices and harnessing technology. They noted that non-communicable diseases remain a heavy burden on households, and solutions that combine insurance with digital health support could reduce both financial and health risks.
The launch of this product marks a significant step for Uganda’s insurance industry, signalling a shift towards tech-enabled, customer-centric health coverage. Industry analysts say the approach could attract more Ugandans to formal health insurance while giving insured families and companies tools to proactively manage wellbeing.
