2026 polls: Presidential candidate Kasibante launches campaigns in home district of Mityana today

KAMPALA. Mr Robert Kasibante, the National Peasants Party (NPP) presidential flag bearer is this afternoon expected to launch his campaigns at Zigoti playground in Mityana District, where he is also expected to unveil his manifesto.

Kasibante says he decided to begin the campaigns in Mityana ,not Kassanda as earlier planned because the district is his ancestral home.

“But beyond that, it is a district that has played an important role in shaping political thought and resistance in Uganda. Starting here reflects my vision of leadership that is rooted in the people,” Kasibante noted.

The NPP presidential hopeful emphasizes that his leadership agenda is anchored on federalism, which he described as the most practical solution to Uganda’s long-standing governance and development challenges.

“My campaign is about returning power to the people through a federal system. Federalism will ensure that every region in Uganda has the autonomy to manage its resources, determine its priorities, and shape its future,” he said.

Kasibante argued that decades of centralized governance have failed to address inequality, poor service delivery, and the uneven distribution of resources.“

For too long, Ugandans have cried out for better services, fair resource distribution, and true representation. Centralized power has only widened the gaps. Federalism is the way to go.”

Kasibante ,who earlier this year attempted to contest for Busujju County MP seat and lost the NRM ticket is among the eight presidential candidates who are traversing the country, seeking to sell their vision to voters ahead of next year’s general elections.
