Absa Bank Uganda has officially opened a new branch in Nansana, marking another milestone in its expansion strategy aimed at increasing access to modern banking services across the country. The branch, located at Sibyangu Plaza, is expected to make banking more convenient for residents and businesses in one of Kampala’s busiest urban corridors.
The launch event drew local leaders, regulators, and Absa officials, who described the development as a boost for financial inclusion. The bank said the branch will serve as both a traditional service centre and a gateway to digital banking platforms, allowing customers to choose flexible ways of managing their finances.
Speaking at the opening, Absa representatives noted that establishing a physical presence in Nansana reflects the bank’s long-term plan of “taking banking closer to the people.” They stressed that while digital channels are growing rapidly, branches remain vital for building trust, providing advisory services, and serving clients who prefer face-to-face interactions.
The new branch is strategically positioned in a vibrant commercial hub, giving small and medium enterprises easier access to banking products such as loans, savings, and business advisory services. Local entrepreneurs welcomed the move, saying it would save them the cost and time previously spent travelling to branches further away.
Absa Bank Uganda has been steadily increasing its footprint nationwide, combining branch expansion with heavy investment in digital innovations. The bank believes this dual approach ensures that individuals, families, and businesses can benefit from both personalised support and technology-driven convenience.
With the Nansana opening, Absa has once again reaffirmed its role as a key partner in driving economic growth, supporting entrepreneurs, and promoting financial inclusion in Uganda.
