
KAMPALA. One person has been reported dead in Kibiri A Masajja on the outskirts of Kampala after a fight with a colleague.
According to Police the fighting involved two land brokers who were wrangling over disputed piece of land along Busabala Road in Makindye Division.
Police have identified the deceased as Geoffrey Kakembo,31 . He was allegedly stabbed to death by his colleague Mukisa Tonny on Thursday.
According to preliminary police reports, the duo was traveling together in Kakembo’s vehicle, registration number UBP 620S, when an altercation occurred. Mukisa reportedly stabbed Kakembo in the neck with a knife, causing the vehicle to lose control.
A lorry driver passing by noticed the vehicle veering off the road and stopped to assist, only to find Mukisa attempting to support the bleeding Kakembo. The knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from the driver’s seat.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after and arrested Mukisa, who had visible blood stains on his clothes. The body of the deceased was taken to Mulago Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the murder weapon was recovered to help police in the investigations .
In a statement, Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said :“We have arrested the suspect, recovered the knife, and recorded statements from eyewitnesses. The suspect is cooperating with police as investigations continue,” The motive behind the fatal confrontation remains unclear, but police suspect it may have stemmed from a land-related dispute.
