Suspect in the Ggaba Day- care centre killings Christopher Okello Onyum has this afternoon been remanded to Luzira prison after the state has formally indicted him with 4 counts of murder .
Okello first appeared before the Makindye chief Magistrates court in the morning to record a confession statement to detail how he executed the alleged crime before the magistrate but he declined .
At bout 4pm, Okello has been driven back to the same court amidst tight security from both police and the Army for formal communication of the charges.
Clad in blue faded jeans and a white and red -stripped jacket , Okello poised ( kwetega)for journalists in every angle to take photos.
Prosecution alleges that on 2nd / April 2026 at GGaba Early Childhood Development centre in Gaba parish -Makindye Division with Malice afore thought unlawfully caused the death of 4 unfants including;
Eteku Gideon,
Keisha Agenoroth
Sseruynage Ignatius
Odeke Rayan.
Okello has appeared before Grade one magistrate Idah Nanjala for formal communication of charges. He has however been barred from pleading to the capital offences of murder which are a tried by only the Highcourt .
The magsitrate has read to Okello his rights including entitlement to state funded legal aid and the right to apply for bail before the Highcourt.
In court Chief state Attorneys ; Jonathan Muwaganya and Anna Kiiza have informed court that police inquiries are almost complete and that Okello should be brought back to court tomorrow at 3PM .
While at court , fellow suspects in holding cells have rejected to be bundled together with Okello prompting prison authorities to lock him in a waiting prison bus .
