The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has praised PostBank Uganda for its role in promoting financial inclusion and strengthening economic security across the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by PostBank leadership to the Provincial Office in Namirembe on August 6, Archbishop Kaziimba commended the bank, currently rebranding to Pearl Bank, for forging a strategic alliance with the Church of Uganda to improve the financial well-being of bishops, clergy, and church communities.
The collaboration, which builds on a meeting held in August 2024 with PostBank Managing Director Julius Kakeeto, seeks to create tailored solutions for sustainable financial management, ensuring clergy enjoy dignity and security in retirement.
“The church is focused on transforming communities, spiritually, socially, and economically,” Archbishop Kaziimba said. “We aim to witness a more dignified life for all our people, especially the vulnerable. With support like yours, we can bring about meaningful change through education, economic empowerment, and pastoral care.”
He lauded PostBank’s commitment to co-developing initiatives that not only manage church finances more effectively but also improve the livelihoods of clergy families nationwide.
Martin Mugisha, PostBank’s Executive Director of Operations, highlighted that the partnership is anchored in shared values and a vision for long-term impact. “Last year, the Archbishop challenged us to support the clergy and church community in creating sustainable financial security mechanisms, and we have acted on that commitment,” he said.
Under the agreement, PostBank has pledged annual seed capital over the next five years to fund retirement and welfare initiatives for church leaders and members. These efforts align with the bank’s mission to foster prosperity for Ugandans through financial inclusion and tailored banking solutions.
Archbishop Kaziimba called for intentional action to ensure the partnership delivers real impact: “The journey ahead requires joint effort, compassion, and leadership with vision. Let us not only promise transformation , let us live it.”
