KAMPALA.
The Director of Crime Intelligence, Brig. Christopher Ddamulira, has been elevated to the rank of Major General.
The promotion, confirmed on Sunday night and was communicated by the Commander-in-Chief President Museveni is in recognition of Brig.Ddamulira’s longstanding service in intelligence and his critical role in safeguarding national security..
“I am grateful to the Commander-in-Chief for elevating me,” Maj Gen Ddamulira told colleagues shortly after receiving the good news.
Ddamulira’s promotion comes on the heels of two major counter-terror operations in Kampala.
In recent weeks, security agencies thwarted planned terror attacks on places of worship and public gatherings in Munyonyo and Kalerwe Market respectively , neutralizing operatives and seizing explosive devices.
The swift and intelligence-led response has been widely credited to the effective coordination of Uganda Police’s Crime Intelligence directorate with Uganda People’s Defense Forces.
Before assuming crime intelligence roles , Maj Gen. Ddamulira had an extensive career in military intelligence.
He served in the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and played a role in high-risk operations against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in northern Uganda and across the region.
His unit’s fieldwork was instrumental in dismantling LRA networks and securing areas previously destabilized by Joseph Kony’s insurgency.
Currently , Maj.Gen Ddamulira is currently spearheading efforts to engage and rehabilitate ghetto youth, particularly in Kampala’s informal settlements commonly known as slums .
