Former presidential candidate Frank Bulira Kabinga has criticized the decision by former presidential contender Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to go into exile, describing it as unfortunate and detrimental to the struggle for political change in Uganda.
Bulira, who is also the President of the Uganda Federal Democratic Organization (UFDO), made the remarks while addressing members of the Muslim community during an Iftar dinner held at the party offices in Namirembe, Kampala.
He said choosing exile means life will never be the same for a political leader and argued that leaving the country weakens the opposition’s efforts to push for a democratic transition. According to Bulira, Kyagulanyi should have remained in Uganda and continued the political fight from within the country rather than fleeing.

Bulira further declared that he is ready to step in and fill the leadership gap, asserting that he has what it takes to mobilize Ugandans and push for regime change.
During his address, he also commended the Muslim community for being honest and outspoken on national issues. Bulira revealed that members of the Muslim community living abroad had previously attempted to support his presidential bid through financial contributions.
