Cedric Babu Ndilima, a son to veteran politician Francis Babu has passed on ,just days after the family launched a fundrising campaign to facilitate his heart transplant abroad .
Ndilima,46 passed away on Saturday ,according to the family ,but the exact cause of death was still unknown .
Earlier this month, Ndilima collapsed while attending a tennis tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, and was airlifted to Nairobi for intensive care.
Medics diagnosed him with severe heart failure, recommending an urgent transplant as his only chance of survival.
The family launched a fundraising campaign to raise about Shs1.5 billion to cover the cost of the procedure and related expenses.
Ndilima first gained national attention in the early 2000s as a charismatic television presenter. Beyond the screen, he was a former national tennis champion who captained Uganda’s Davis Cup team and later served as President of the Uganda Tennis Association, championing grassroots development and international engagement..
He also ventured into politics, running for a pa
liamentary seat in 2021 under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. His bid was unsuccessful.
