MBARARA .

Centenary Bank has delivered essential Iftar items to Abdullah Jami’a Mosque in Mbarara City , aiming to ease food insecurity for vulnerable households during the final days of Ramadhan which today entered the 25th day .

The donation made on Friday includes staples such as maize flour, rice, sugar, soap, and salt.

Abdul Kyanika Nsibambi, a representative of Centenary Bank, handed over the items to mosque leaders shortly after Friday prayers (Juma), emphasizing the bank’s commitment to community welfare.

“We have brought these items to be distributed among those who need them most,” Nsibambi said. “Ramadhan is a season of giving, and we urge those who receive these items to also look out for their neighbors and share where the need arises.”

Speaking to the congregation, Nsibambi also called on local Muslims to remember the global Muslim community, particularly those observing Ramadan under conflict and displacement.

“As we fast and pray in a peaceful environment, let us remember our brothers and sisters in countries experiencing wars. Let us ask for peace to prevail so they, too, can find the tranquility we enjoy today,” he said.

Imaam Azabo, representing the mosque leadership, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the final ten days of Ramadhan are often the most challenging for low-income families.

“The distributed items are expected to provide much-needed relief to dozens of households within the Survey Cell community,” he said.

The donation underscores the spirit of Ramadhan—rooted in sacrifice, prayer, and communal support—highlighting how local initiatives can strengthen unity and solidarity in the region.
