Chief Justice Dollo faces off with Law Society President at the New Law Year

KAMPALA– Members of Legal Fraternity witnessed drama at Judiciary Headquarters in
Kampala as Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo publically disagreed with Isaac
Ssemakadde, the Uganda Law Society President.

The new law year event kicked off peacefully, as Ssemakadde led a group of lawyers
(robbed) to welcome Chief Justice at the Judiciary headquarters as their norm.

Ssemakadde introduced individually to the Chief Justice the lawyers who had lined up
at the event and they appeared to be on the same page.

But drama unfolded during the speech session as the Masters of ceremony skipped
Ssemakadde who had been lined up among the speakers, instead invited the Attorney
General who was supposed to be the next person.

Ssemakadde kept cool, not until the Chief Justice was invited to speak, this meant that
he was going to invite the Chief Guest (Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja) to deliver President
Museveni’s message and later on close the event.

“The Uganda Law Society President has invaded my space and claims that he has
been ashamed for not speaking.” Dollo reacted after Ssemakadde whispering into his
ears.

The Chief Justice later on revealed that he was the person who had ordered that
Ssemakadde should not speak as a result of his endless attacks to the Judicial officers.

“You come to someone’s house whom you have been abusing and you demand to
speak….only a fool can allow you to speak. I personally told the program manager to
remove you from the list of the people to talk.” Fumed Dollo

He asked Ssemakadde to reform in his character and treat people with respect or else
they will not tolerate his unbecoming behavior.

“The institution which would have protected the Judiciary, it’s the one leading in
assaulting judicial officers, world wide it’s the law societies protecting Judicial officers
and courts.”

It’s from that background that Dollo vowed to deal with the Law Society President
Incase he fails to apologize to Justice Musa Ssekaana whom he attacked personally as
a result of his court decision.
