CORSU Hospital Launches Charity Walk to Raise UGX 400M for Children’s Surgeries

CORSU Rehabilitation Hospital has unveiled its annual Charity Walk, a fundraising drive aimed at raising UGX 400 million to provide life-changing surgeries for children living with disabilities. The walk is scheduled for October 5, 2025, under the theme “Bring Hope to Children with Disability.”

The funds will enable the hospital to carry out surgical interventions for 300 children, purchase critical medical and physiotherapy equipment, and renovate its Outpatient Department to improve service delivery.

Bakidde Aloysius, Chairperson of the CORSU Walk Committee, reflected on the impact of the 2024 edition, which raised more than UGX 78 million. “With those funds, we were able to provide at least 16 children with the surgeries they desperately needed. The smiles we saw, and the parents’ tears of relief are memories that fuel our mission every single day,” he noted.

This year’s target is five times higher, demonstrating the hospital’s ambition to expand its reach and transform more lives.

CORSU’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert Ochai, emphasized the hospital’s long-standing commitment to restoring dignity to children and families affected by disability. “Since its founding in 2006, CoRSU has stood on the belief that disability must never mean inability. In just over a decade, we have carried out more than 70,000 life-changing surgeries and rehabilitated over 100,000 patients,” he said.

Ochai added that the annual walk is not just about fundraising but about creating a bridge between despair and possibility, calling on Ugandans to walk in solidarity with children in need.

Uganda continues to face high rates of childhood disability, often worsened by limited access to specialized medical care. For many families, the surgeries offered at CoRSU are the only chance for children to regain mobility and live productive lives.

By mobilizing both individuals and corporate partners, the 2025 CoRSU Charity Walk seeks to transform this reality, turning community support into tangible hope for hundreds of children.
