Following his election as the President of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Parliamentary Assembly and Co-President of the OACPS – European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly, Uganda’s Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who played pivotal roles in his successful candidacy.
Tayebwa took the opportunity to thank the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, for nominating him for the distinguished position, acknowledging that without her support, the realization of his election would not have been possible.

He also extended special thanks to His Excellency, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the critical support his candidature received. Tayebwa emphasized that this backing was vital for his election and promised to carry the responsibility of his new role with pride and dedication, ensuring Uganda’s flag is raised high on the international stage.
In his message, Tayebwa underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving this milestone, expressing his commitment to working towards the goals of the OACPS and the European Union, particularly in areas like trade, peace, climate change, and social development. He pledged to serve the OACPS with integrity and work tirelessly to create a better world for all.
