The Democratic Front President, Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, and the Masaka City DF leadership have challenged the leadership of the security forces to come forward and inform the country about the whereabouts of Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira, a priest of the Masaka Diocese and curate at Bumangi Parish, who was allegedly kidnapped by men in military uniform.

Fr. Ssekabira was reportedly abducted by men dressed in Uganda Army uniforms traveling in a drone vehicle on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from his office located at Katwe in Masaka City, where he serves as the Director of Uplift Primary School.

Speaking to residents of Zaire village in Ssenyange zone in Masaka City, Mpuuga warned that kidnappings are barbaric acts that any regime should refrain from committing.

According to Mpuuga, if Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira had a case to answer, the security forces should have gone through the Masaka Diocese Bishop instead of kidnapping a man of God and keeping him incommunicado for days.

The disappearance of Rev. Fr. Ssekabira comes at a time when the country is headed for the 2026 election, five years after the 2021 elections, during which a number of Ugandans were kidnapped, and their whereabouts remain unknown up to now.

Mpuuga warned that Uganda isn’t ready to witness another wave of kidnappings as occurred in 2021, noting that such acts are outdated and barbaric that the DF leadership won’t tollarate
