Elderly Passenger Dies on Kenya Airways

A devastating incident occurred on Kenya Airways flight KQ 003 from New York’s JFK Airport to Nairobi on April 11, 2025. An elderly passenger suffered a medical emergency mid-air, prompting the crew to divert the plane to Entebbe International Airport for urgent medical attention.

At 8:40 a.m. Nairobi time, the crew notified Kenya Airways Operations Control Centre that the passenger had collapsed. Three medical professionals onboard provided critical assistance, utilizing onboard medical equipment to stabilize the passenger. Despite these efforts, the passenger was pronounced dead at 9:10 a.m. East Africa Time, before landing in Entebbe.

The flight crew resumed its journey to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, landing at 10:27 a.m. Nairobi time. Kenya Airways has extended its condolences to the family and loved ones, prioritizing their privacy and dignity.

Kenya Airways is collaborating with local authorities, aviation regulators, and the family to determine the cause of death and provide necessary support. The airline’s response adhered to international aviation medical protocols, highlighting their preparedness for in-flight emergencies
