KAMPALA.The Military Police has instructed its officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and vigilance while providing security during the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations which kick off on Monday .
Addressing 490 officers at Nsujjumporwe Barracks in Mpigi District, the Commandant of the Military Police, Maj Gen William Bainomugisha, emphasized the importance of mental readiness and ethical conduct while safeguarding the examination process.
“The best weapon of a soldier is his brain. Act wisely and tactically to ensure that candidates sit their exams in a secure and peaceful environment,” Maj Gen Bainomugisha said.
He also urged his troops to prioritize national service over personal gain, warning against the temptation of wealth and indulgence.
“Put the country first and money later,” he told another group of officers at Buyala Barracks. “Serve diligently and avoid extravagant lifestyles that compromise your duty.”
Deputy Commandant Brig Christopher Columbus Tumwiine reminded officers to serve as role models, maintaining accountability and the integrity of the force.
He also urged them to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional throughout the examination period, steering clear of political engagements or festive distractions.
Meanwhile, Col Sylvia Meeme, the Brigade Operations and Training Officer, called on personnel to approach their tasks with fairness, flexibility, and observant professionalism.
The Military Police will oversee security operations at examination centres across the country to ensure a smooth and peaceful conclusion to the 2025 UACE examinations. A total of 166,433 candidates are registered to do the exams this year .
The UACE national exams will begin with candidate briefings on November 7, with the first paper scheduled for Monday, November 11, 2025.
This will be the last set of national exams prepared by Uneb this year .
