Excitement as Fins Medical University gets Charter

KAMPALA. Fins Medical University (FMU) has finally secured a Charter , marking a major milestone in the institution’s development and positioning it among the fully recognized Universities in the country.

The charter, only granted by the President represents the highest level of accreditation in Uganda, was formally presented today by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to the University’s top leadership.

Those present to receive the charter included the Chairperson of the University Council, Prof. Stella Kyohairwe, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Deogratias Mugisha, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kalenzi Victor and the University Secretary Mr. Ruhweza Patrick, among other senior officials.

Licensed in 2018, Fins Medical University becomes one of the few Universities in Uganda to attain a charter within such a short period. This achievement reflects the institution’s rapid growth, strong academic standards, and commitment to addressing Uganda’s critical need for highly trained health professionals.

FMU is the first University in East Africa dedicated exclusively to health sciences education and research. Its specialized programs include the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology, Bachelor of Midwifery Science and Bachelor of Nursing Science among others. All programs are accredited by the NCHE and relevant regulatory bodies.

Located in Fort Portal Tourism City, Fins Medical University continues to expand its contribution to Uganda’s health sector by producing competent medical practitioners, equipped to serve communities across the country.

The granting of the charter affirms FMU’s place as a fully recognized institution of higher learning and strengthens its mandate to deliver quality, industry-aligned medical education.
