Head of NUP School of leadership goes missing

KAMPALA. Another leader of National Unity Platform (NUP) party has gone missing.
Doreen Kaija, the head of NUP School of Leadership and the party’s flag bearer for Nakawa East Constituency, was on Saturday abducted from her home in Mbuya ,a Kampala City suburb by heavily armed men moving in two Toyota Hiace cars commonly known as drones and driven to unknown destination .

According to eye witnesses two drones were escorted by a Uganda Police Force patrol pickup .
“The abduction was swift and frightening, as the armed men surrounded her home, leaving us too terrified to intervene,” one of the residents said

Her disappearance has raised questions about the safety of political leaders, especially those in the opposition. NUP members and supporters have expressed deep worry over the incident, describing it as a targeted attack meant to silence vocal leaders within the opposition party.

After getting wind of the incident , NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine post on his X handle saying : “ Dictator Museveni must know that these criminal actions will never break our resolve ! A time must , and will surely come when all of us will say enough to this nonsense ,” he said

Kaija ’s abduction adds to a growing list of opposition leaders who have faced arrests, harassment, and unexplained disappearances in recent times. Last week, security operatives also picked up the NUP deputy publicists Alex Mufumbiro , Saudah Madaada ,a party diehard and held them for days before being arraigned in Kawempe Chief Magistrates on allegations of taking part in a military-like parade conducted at NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule in February .
