KAMPALA.
The speculation is now over about the whereabouts of chief civilian body guard of National Unity Platform of President Robert Kyagulanyi , Eddie Mutwe after the Chief of Defense Forces Gen .Muhoozi Kainerugaba confirmed he is in the hands of the Army .
Eddie Mutwe, real name Edward Ssebufu was reportedly abducted by security operatives attached to the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) in Mukono District last Sunday .
On Thursday evening Muhoozi posted on his X , formerly Twitter handle saying Eddie Mutwe was being detained in his “basement” and made to salute the portrait of his father President Museveni every day before having breakfast .
In a series of posts, including one showing a half-naked Eddie Mutwe, Muhoozi, known for his demeaning some time annoying posts on social media, said he (Eddie Mutwe) was learning Runyankore, a popular local dialect from the western part of the country.
“Correct Kabobi! What will you do about it? Coward,” posted Gen Muhoozi in response to Mr Kyagulanyi, who has since last Sunday challenging the state apparatus to produce Eddie Mutwe.
“I haven’t started. I still have to castrate him……Next is Kabobi! I have never joked in my life. I don’t know why people think my tweets are jokes…….If Kabobi abuses anybody in my family again, he will imperil Eddie even more than he already has,” the shy looking Gen Muhoozi who rarely appears in public ,posted
After Gen Muhoozi sharing the message on his microblogging site X ,formerly Twitter , Mr Kyagulanyi rushed to his X handle and said “ Museveni’s son confirms that our brother Eddie Mutwe is being detained in his basement “ Learning Runyakore” Time will tell .” he posted
Police spokesperson Mr Kituuma Rusoke had earlier on Monday told journalists at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala that the Force is not aware of Eddie Mutwe’s disappearance.
“I heard news circulating on social media about his abduction, but no police officer or any security personnel has officially briefed me. I am not in a position to give details regarding his arrest and/or abduction,” Mr Kituuma said.
Eddie Mutwe has been a key target in several security crackdowns on NUP activities, especially during the ongoing electioneering ahead of next year’s General Elections .
Several NUP supporters are also reportedly missing including Mpalanyi Michael , Ssentongo Shakur and Daniel Nsambu among others while hundreds are being incarcerated in various prisons including Luzira Prison and Kitalya Prison .
It remains to be seen whether Eddie Mutwe will soon regain his freedom or be arraigned in the General Court Martial for any crime ,as the State had done to other NUP supporters before .
