The Parliament of Uganda has postponed its scheduled sitting initially set for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, afternoon .
This according to the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige is to allow Members of Parliament (MPs) to continue participating in ongoing political party primaries.
Mr Mwesige had earlier issued a notice summoning MPs for the July 22 sitting, acting on the instructions of Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.
However, in a follow-up communication, Mr Mwesige announced the postponement of the sitting to Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Parliament last held a plenary session on June 24, 2025, when it was adjourned by Tayebwa to allow legislators mainly from ruling National Resistance Movement prepare for internal primaries .
The postponement comes amid heightened political activity across the country, as several MPs seek re-election and are actively engaged in campaigns in respective party primaries. The move is intended to ensure full participation and quorum when the House reconvenes to handle critical national matters.
