

KOLOLO. State Minister for Microfinance ,Hajj Haruna Kasolo has won the position of vice chairperson Central region for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) during a hotly contested race at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds Wednesday night .
According to the results released by NRM electoral commission chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi, , Kasolo ,also the party flag bearer for Kyotera County parliamentary seat emerged victorious with 4,194 votes (50.3 percent) of total votes cast , followed by Moses Karangwa with 3,981 (47.7 percent).
Others in candidates in the race were incumbent region vice-chairperson Kiwanda Geoffrey with five votes, Kyeswa Hakim with 163 votes and Ssewava Mukasa Joseph with no votes.
By the time of counting the votes , Kiwanda ,Ssewava and Kyeswa had withdrawn from the race. Kasolo had the backing of two former vice presidents Edward Sekandi and Prof. Gilbert Bukenya –both hailing from Central Region and former vice chairperson for Central Region Al Hajj Abdul Nadduuli.
Total voters for the region were 8,343.
