Kyagulanyi promises cheaper electricity, rallies Kyankwanzi and Kiboga for support

KYANKWANZI-KIBOGA. National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known by his stage name Bobi Wine , has promised cheaper power tariffs for Ugandans if he becomes President in the next year’s General Election .

Kyagulanyi who made several min-stopovers on his way to Kyankwanzi District from Mubende District through Madudu Town questioned the high power tariffs, bad road network in areas he claimed produce minerals and food for the country.

“The new Uganda will be different. The high power tariffs where you are purchasing a unit at Shs1000 will be reduced to Shs500. We must get a new independence because we are not yet liberated. Your vote will be the beginning of the new liberation,” he told his supporters at Bamusuta Playground in Kiboga Town Council, Kiboga District on October 8, 2025.

In Kyankwanzi District where the NUP campaign trail made several stopovers before the final rally at Ntwetwe Town Council, Kyagulanyi promised his supporters that the cries of the people that have lost their respective land will be wiped away when a new government takes over .

“This land that has been grabbed from you will be returned when I get into power. These people have made us go through the bad roads but they are unknowingly showing us what to do when we get into power in 2026,” he said.

Kyagulanyi who promised to reach out to 20 million voters by January rallied his supporters not to be intimidated by state apologists ,but turn out in big numbers to cast their votes on the polling day .

“These people ‘state’ are trying to find means of interrupting the vote. The other time, they used the Covid pandemic to disrupt the campaigns and voting. We don’t know about their next plans. Ensure that you support each other during the voting period. We must turn out in big numbers,” he said.

Kyagulanyi, who is expected to campaign in Nakaseke District on Thursday October 9, 2025, urged his supporters to shun all ruling National Resistance Movement flag bearers at all levels ,saying ,many are children of henchmen cast their respective ballots for only NUP candidates that have the party flag.

“In these areas you have candidates who are from the NRM party and are children of people that have been enjoying power for the last 40 years. Ensure that your respective votes go to the NUP candidates,” he told his supporters.

Unlike the other campaign trails in some of the districts where Kyagulanyi has been campaigning, the campaign trail had no major stand-off between the security and the NUP campaign team.On Thursday , Kyagulanyi will be campaigning in Nakaseke ,one of the districts where the incumbent Yoweri Museveni staged his five-year guerilla war which brought him to power.
