Makerere’s Dr. Joshua Wanyama promoted to the rank of Associate Professor

By Buwule Joseph Mary : Dr. Joshua Wanyama of Makerere University has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Water and Irrigation Engineering in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

The promotion marks a significant milestone in Dr. Wanyama’s academic and professional journey, recognizing his years of dedication to teaching, research, and community engagement in the field of water resources and irrigation systems.

Colleagues at Makerere University describe Dr. Wanyama as a committed scholar whose work has contributed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in water management—an area critical to Uganda’s food security and climate resilience. His research has focused on improving irrigation technologies, optimizing water use, and supporting farmers to adapt to changing weather patterns.
