Man arrested in Kampala with contraceptives stolen from govt stores

KAMPALA. Police in Kampala are holding a man found in possession of a consignment of contraceptive implants stolen from government medical stores .
The suspect Samuel Munyole has been on the intelligence tracking list and currently detained at Old Kampala Police Station in Kampala.


Believed not to be a medical worker but instead a conduit, Munyole was arrested by a National Drug Authority (NDA) team through intelligence, according to NDA public relations manager Abiaz Rwamwiri.
“The suspect had travelled from Bushenyi District by bus and was “intercepted by an NDA team in Kisenyi Bus Terminal” at around 2pm on Tuesday (September 2).He has been on our tracking list for involvement in theft of government medicine,” he said


“He is currently detained at Old Kampala Police Station and is charged with unlawful possession of government stores in contravention of Section 292(2) of the Penal Code Act and unlawful possession of classified drugs contrary to Section 27(2) of the National Drug Policy and Authority Act.


Mr Rwamwiri said they believe Munyole is part of a group of people who supply such contraceptives to young, school-going teenagers.
He was found with a box packed with Implanon, a contraceptive implant that is inserted under the skin of the inner, upper arm to stop pregnancy.
