Mbale based Journalist wins Namisindwa NRM LC5 Chairperson Flag

Mbale based journalist with Elgon FM in Mbale City has been declared the winner of the NRM party flag for the Namisindwa District LC5 Chairperson seat, defeating the incumbent with a commanding lead.


Mr Emma Bwayo was announced winner by the NRM district registrar, Mr. Richard Kikuyi, after garnering 121,544 votes, representing 61.2 percent of the total votes cast. His closest rival, the incumbent chairperson Jackson Wakweika, polled 72,957 votes (36.6 percent ).

Other contenders included Mango Situma, who received 3,633 votes, and Simiyu Wataka, who scored 567 votes.
Born in 1992, Mr Bwayo is currently serving as the district youth councillor for Namisindwa.

His political journey began in 2015 when he was elected youth chairperson for Namabya Sub-county. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Youth Minister in the cultural institution of the Bamasaaba.
Mr Bwayo is the Marketing and Business Development Manager at Elgon FM and also works as a newsreader, reporter, and radio presenter at the same station.


In his victory speech, Mr Bwayo pledged to prioritize good governance, improve service delivery, and fight corruption.
“I want to sincerely thank the people of Namisindwa for entrusting me with this responsibility. I pledge to prioritize the career growth of our civil servants, fight corruption, and ensure value for money in all district projects,” he said.


“Our goal is to build a district that works for everyone. Most importantly, I am committed to uniting and transforming the image of Namisindwa for the better.”
The official NRM party flag bearer will now focus on the upcoming general elections in 2026.
